BMR 7 Second Mustang Buildup
|
The car being used for the buildup is a brand new 2005 Black Mustang GT 5 speed. This car has already been a test mule for all of our '05 Mustang products and has already been taken apart more times than I can count. The interior will remain stock except for gauges, racing seats and an NHRA legal chrome moly rollcage.
The car has 433 miles on it and here is day 1 of the teardown. The exhaust, driveshaft, fuel tank, charcoal canister, and all related lines were removed from the car. Fluids were drained and the engine and transmission were prepared for removal.
On day 2, the car loses the motor and transmission as well as all of the engine bay accessories such as brake booster and master cylinder, radiator...

BMR 9 Second Project GTO Buildup
|
Project GTO started out as a testbed for our new line of HD GTO products. The performance industry is always pushing the limits in technology and the LS1 already has a steady following so it was immediately understood that the stock driveline was going to be an issue. In order to accurately test our product, it is necessary to push the stock components beyond their normal operating range, find the failure points then develop a better product. In doing so, it became just too fun and project 9 second GTO was born.
The very first thing we did with the car was drive it 500 miles to break it in and then went straight to the track. The car felt decent, running a best of 13.97@100.1MPH. This seemed to be on par with what the magazines were claiming so we were fairly happy. With a 60 ft. time of 2.09, however, it was apparent that a torque converter...

BMR Project Y9 '05 Mustang Buildup
|
Just how quick can this car go without turning it into a racecar? Our goal is to find the true potential of this new 3 valve motor and S197 chassis. The car is a loaded 2005 Yellow Ford Mustang GT 5 speed that came dealer optioned with 20" wheels and Michelin tires. It was purchased new and currently has 4500 miles on the odometer.
Our initial plan is to install a full line of BMR suspension and driveline, upgrade the rear end with Moser components, install some lightweight SJM/Bogart drag wheels and Mickey Thompson tires, upgrade the clutch (undecided brand at this time), install a set of Stainless Works headers, Meziere electric water pump and an STS twin...

BMR 8 Second Turbo F-Body Buildup
|
The purpose of this page is to provide a monthly status report over the course of a year on the BMR project Camaro. This will be a detailed buildup of the entire process so that the viewer can follow along and see just what it takes to build a streetable 8 second F-body. Streetable? "Yeah, right" you say, "a race car with street tires and headlights is more likely".
This is not the case with the BMR project car and if you follow along with the buildup you will see that the car will retain a full interior including power windows and seats, stock wheelwells(no tubs), and most important - a complete, off-the-shelf BMR suspension! That's right, this car will run 8's with the same suspension that is available to any BMR customer. This car is being built solely to explore the potential of our current product line and the joy of a 150 mph pass on streetcar suspension and 10" tires has nothing to do with it...
